In class we have been looking at how authors support opinions with facts. An opinion supported by a fact is stronger; it is more difficult to argue against it. This week you will read an article that presents a new seating option for classrooms that replaces the traditional chair. At the end of Would You Rather Sit On Chairs Or Balls? from the Associated Press, there are two questions for a Critical Thinking Challenge. You will identify the opinions that support answering these two questions by following the directions listed below.
2. In Google Docs create a copy of the Opinion Supported By Fact graphic organizer. It can be found in the Reading Template To Make Your Own Copy. Open it and make a copy of it. Share this with Mrs. McDonald (or print it and pass it in).
3. In the box for Opinion #1 type "Yoga Ball Advantages". Below that, in the supporting facts boxes, list the facts from the article that support using yoga balls rather than traditional chairs.
4. In the box for Opinion #2 type "Why Not All Schools Are Using Balls". Below that, in the supporting facts boxes, list the facts from the article that support why not all schools have switched to using yoga balls.
5. Finish the assignment by answering the reflection questions at the bottom of the page.
